VolleyballThe volleyball program at Palomares is an after-school sport activity. The team consists of 4th and 5th graders who are interested in participating. The season begins in early September and ends in mid-November. Palomares plays games once a week against the other eight Castro Valley elementary schools. For the 2004 season, Palomares was victorious against Jensen, Vannoy, CVE and Stanton elementary schools. With only 27 players, each team member had a lot of playing time. We celebrated the end of a great season with pizza, drinks, and homemade cookies. Good job, Palomares volleyball team! TrackThe track program at Palomares is an after-school sport activity. The track team consists of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who are interested in participating. Because of the small school population, Palomares is the only elementary school to allow 3rd graders to participate. The season consists of four track meets at Castro Valley High School in May. There is the practice meet, the qualifying meet, the district meet, and the community meet. Each member can participate in a running event, a field event, and a relay. The running events are: 400, 200, 100, 75, and 50. The field events are: long jump, triple jump, figure eight, softball throw, and tetherball throw. There are 4x100 relays and 4x200 relays. Each year, Palomares has done an excellent job with all events. Numerous ribbons have been given to many participants. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting 2005 season. Go Palomares!
